Hole 1 - Severe Uphill Opener
Reachable but the green bites back
Par 5 - 452 / 358yds.

Tee Shot
Slightly uphill, reachable for long hitters. Ideal target: RIGHT-CENTER of the fairway, between the pines on the right and the cypress wall on the left. The cypress wall left blocks anything pulled - a left miss is a punch out at best, OB at worst. Predominant wind: usually a soft helping breeze off the back tee in the morning, neutral by afternoon. Avoid: the left cypress line at all costs. Where to miss: short and right of the depression at 265 Blue (250 White) is dead flat. Low handicap: driver right-center, set up a 4-iron 2nd shot. Mid handicap: 3-wood for placement. High handicap: hybrid down the right side, play it as a true three-shot . The air is dense on the Monterey Peninsula and you can normally expect the ball to carry 5-7 yards less than normal conditions, especially in the colder months and early morning - keep that into consideration on every shot at Del Monte. Do not expect a lot of roll here either. Play all shots to carry yardages.
